Fine Arts Department
Our fine arts programs at Countryside High provide instruction and experience for students of all abilities through classes, clubs and extra-curricular activities. *ALL FINE ARTS CLASSES satisfy the Arts credit requirement for graduation.
Band - Under the direction of CHS alumnus Vince Parrulli, the Golden Cougar Band of Pride marching band participates in football games and competitions. Extra-curricular groups associated with marching band include Color Guard, Winter Guard and Drum Line. Mr. Parrulli also offers classes in guitar, orchestra and other areas. Chorus - Fine Arts Department head Jessica Franchi is the choral director and music director for musical theatre. Our chorus performs for the public several times per year and consistently has students win all-county and all-state honors. Ms. Franchi also offers classes in keyboard, music theory, etc.
Performing Arts/Drama - Mrs. Florio teaches and directs classes in drama, musical theatre, stagecraft and eurhythmics for all levels and abilities. Musical theatre classes, with Ms. Franchi as music director, produce a mainstage musical show and competition one-act play each year. Other classes offer additional performance opportunities. Sponsor of Drama Club/ITS Troupe 900, Mrs. Florio oversees a huge, dynamic group of students who enjoy performance, production and socials. 2D and 3D Art - If drawing, painting, sculpture, etc. interest you, try a class offered by Mr. Titus and Ms. Grabowski. Their students' works are on display throughout the school, including the hand-made tiles at the main entrance and sculptures in the media center.
