Xeriscaping and Water Shortage Restrictions
The Southwest Florida Water Management District
Who is affected?
The following measures apply to all water sources. Surface water and ground water, private wells, and utility supplies within the Southwest Florida Water Management District . The affected counties are Citrus, DeSoto, Hardee, Hernando, Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas, Manatee, Sarasota and Sumter and those portions of Charlotte, Highlands, Lake, Levy, Marion, and Polk within the district.
What are the restrictions?
(1) Lawns and landscapes can be watered only 2 days a week.
(2) Addresses ending in an even number (or the letters A through M ) may water only on Tuesday and/or Saturday.
(3) Addresses ending in an odd number (the letters N through Z ), or locations where no address may be determined may water only on Wednesday and/or Sunday.
(4) Irrigation must be accomplished during these designated time periods: 12:01 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and/or 4:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. on assigned days.

Irrigation using reclaimed water (highly treated wastewater or industry approved micro-irrigation devices) is NOT restricted. Currently there are NO approved methods of micro-irrigation for use on lawn grasses.
New lawns and landscaping are exempt from day of the week restrictions for the first 30 days after planting.
Several cities and counties have restrictions that may allow fewer days or hours to irrigate.
