Xeriscaping Conserves Water - DO YOUR PART

  • Water lawn only when it really needs it

  • Water lawns before 9 a.m. or after 5 p.m. when evaporation is lowest

  • Water plants with water you usually pour down the drain

  • Avoid using running water to thaw frozen food or for brushing your teeth

  • Install aerators with flow restrictors in all faucets

  • Run the dishwasher and washing machine only when full

  • Patronize commercial car washes that recycle water

  • Encourage water conservation in your work place

  • Patronize restaurants that serve water only on request

  • Install toilet dams and save about 4 gallons every time you flush

  • Use trash cans for trash disposal, not the toilet

  • Fix dripping faucets

  • Don’t water street or driveway. Adjust sprinklers so only grass is watered

  • Find out more about XERISCAPE ( water conservation through creative landscaping)
