Established June 2, 1887. Named for Samuel Pasco (June 28,1834 - March 13, 1917) of Monticello, Florida ( in the Panhandle area, not Pasco County) who was the Speaker of the House of Representatives at the time the county was created.

County seat: Dade City Board of County Commissioners located at 4025 Moon Lake Rd., New Port Richey, Fla. 33552

Land area: 745 square miles

Water area: 123.0 square miles totaling 868.02 square miles combined

Pasco County has no lakes of 10 square miles or more
